About Us
LEAF was founded in 2003 by the spouses of Indian Forest officers from Gujarat who were passionate about the environment and wildlife. With similar experience of residing in Gujarat’s forests and tribal areas with their spouses, these women nature enthusiasts decided to create a body (a NGO) where work for the environment and society could be done. Smt. Manjula Sharma spearheaded this initiative, which was backed by Smt. Bulbul Khanna and Smt. Anjali Srivastava. The organisation was named – Ladies Environment Action Forum (LEAF), which was changed to Ladies Environment Action Foundation, headquartered at Gandhinagar. LEAF was registered in the year 2016, administered professionally by an elected body of spouses of Indian Forest Service Officers of Gujarat cadre. The members of LEAF are spouses of IFS officers of Gujarat.
Aim
1. To plan and organise programs for greening our Mother Earth, such as tree plantations, adopt a tree.
2. To provide education that prepares students to think and develop an environmental awareness and sensitize them to protect our mother earth.
3. To aid in organizing seminars, meetings, discussions and exhibitions about environmental awareness and healthy and sustainable life.
4. To provide financial support to economically underprivileged children for their education and non financial assistance to elderly and old age homes.
